ABOUT
Tucked along the untouched coastline of São Pedro, on the island of São Vicente, Foya Branca by Flagworld Hotels is more than a beach resort — it is a statement of authentic, sustainable, and soulful hospitality. Set between the Atlantic Ocean and volcanic mountains, Foya Branca offers a rare blend of tranquility, cultural depth, and eco-conscious innovation in one of the most spectacular beach settings in West Africa.
Part of the Flagworld Hotels group since 2024, Foya Branca is currently undergoing a transformative reconstruction, reimagining what a beach resort can be in a resource-limited island context. The design philosophy is centered on natural integration, local craftsmanship, and sustainable function — featuring rooms rebuilt with locally sourced wood, natural fibers, and recycled elements. Every space is designed to maximize natural light and ventilation, reducing the need for mechanical cooling. Eco-curtains replace air conditioning in most rooms, and handcrafted furniture by local artisans gives the resort a unique, culturally rooted aesthetic.
The heart of the resort is its seafront experience: São Pedro Beach, with its wide, golden sands and year-round ocean breeze, is a haven for kite surfers, nature lovers, and those seeking peace by the sea. The beachfront pool, open-air restaurant, and lush tropical gardens create a seamless flow between indoor comfort and outdoor beauty.
Service at Foya Branca is inspired by Cape Verdean warmth and rhythm. Guests are welcomed not only with comfort, but with authenticity — including curated experiences such as live morna music evenings, traditional cuisine using ingredients from local cooperatives, and guided excursions into the island’s cultural and natural heritage.
Innovation extends to our sustainability model:
Solar water heating systems and LED lighting ensure energy efficiency.
A dedicated wastewater treatment plant (ETAR) irrigates gardens with recycled water.
Over 75% of all food is sourced locally, reducing food miles and empowering local farmers.
Over 200 furniture pieces have been refurbished, promoting a circular design ethos.
Perhaps most importantly, Foya Branca is a social project. In partnership with NGOs and training centers, over 40 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have been integrated into our operations —from hospitality training to long-term employment.
It is not just a resort; it is a platform for empowerment.
Foya Branca’s nomination for Best Beach Resort reflects not only its breathtaking location and authentic guest experience, but its pioneering role in redefining what a resort can be where sustainability meets design, where luxury meets local, and where every stay leaves a positive footprint.
