ABOUT
Sheraton Jeju is a comprehensive transformation of the former Ramada Plaza Jeju, a landmark waterfront property located along the Tapdong coastline in Jeju, South Korea. The design reimagines the existing structure as an urban resort—framing panoramic ocean vistas, honoring the island’s raw volcanic landscape, and cultivating a serene, deliberate pace of stay.
Anchored by the concept "Beyond the Horizon," the design draws inspiration from maritime voyages and the motif of a ship setting sail from Jeju's coast. ONA Design honors the existing architectural structure, carrying the property's history forward through strategic adaptive reuse rather than replacement.
Within the public areas, the concept is expressed through FLOW — a spatial language inspired by Jeju’s natural rhythm and cultural character. Organic forms, layered elements, and fluid transitions allow nature to move seamlessly from outdoors into the interior, blurring the boundary between landscape and architecture. References to the island’s coastline, volcanic formations, water, and vegetation create a continuous journey through the hotel’s public spaces.
Nature is embedded not as a decorative theme, but as an underlying design principle. Basalt-inspired textures, warm timber, woven glass, tactile fabrics, organic curves, and layered illumination evoke Jeju’s stone, coast, vegetation, and shifting natural light, while subtle references to local craft reinforce a strong sense of place.
