ABOUT
Yining, an important city along the historic Silk Road and fondly known as the ‘Flower City’, boasts unique natural landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. Its charm lies in the harmonious integration of urban life with the natural environment, creating a vibrant and colourful atmosphere that reflects the city's vitality and aesthetic appeal.
As a multi-ethnic hub, Yining celebrates the traditions of the Uyghur, Kazakh, and other communities, blending past and present, and nature with humanity. The site will host a dual-brand property – an InterContinental Hotel and an EVEN Hotel – alongside a convention centre.
Main Entrance & Convention Centre
The design of the main entrance draws inspiration from traditional tapestry, crafting a rich ‘earth brocade’ that bridges the bustling urban surroundings with the tranquility of the hotel. Layers of vegetation and thoughtfully designed pathways guide guests from the cityscape into the serene hotel space.
A pomegranate flower sculpture and intricately designed landscape walls serve as the visual focus, offering a welcoming first impression infused with local cultural charm.
The convention centre’s drop-off area integrates floral and weaving elements, creating an elegant and harmonious ambiance. The intertwining forms of flowers and weaving highlight nature’s vitality and craftsmanship’s artistry, offering a visually layered and dynamic experience. Plants of varying flower heights, and delicate weaving structures bring a sense of rhythm and flow to the space.
InterContinental Hotel
The InterContinental Hotel’s drop-off area features decorative walls and crab-apple trees that line the Malus Boulevard, creating a ceremonial sense of arrival.
A courtyard with blue-toned stone and a mirrored water feature enhances the space’s luxurious feel, reflecting Yining’s unique colours and the seasonal changes of its vegetation.
Even Hotel
EVEN, a hospitality brand centred on wellness and youthfulness, features vibrant garden landscapes and rejuvenated woodland areas. Flowering trees dominate the visuals, echoing the brand’s fresh, relaxed, and natural wellness concept. The Four Seasons Courtyard captures the charm of Yining’s changing seasons, offering a sensory feast from spring blooms to winter snow.
Courtyard Gardens
The hotel’s backyard includes landscaped activity areas, such as an open, multi-purpose lawn with views of the majestic Tianshan Mountains. This serene setting invites guests to enjoy the beauty of changing seasons.
The Starry Water Court, featuring sunken seating aligned with the building’s central axis, provides a striking vista and serves as a spacious outdoor venue for gatherings.
The softscape design highlights local flora and region-specific plants, emphasising Yining’s natural charm while ensuring resilience to seasonal conditions. Low evergreen shrubs maintain visual appeal in winter, while vibrant flower beds reflect the Ili River Valley’s rolling meadows.
By blending regional culture, sustainability, and nature, the landscape design enhances the aesthetic and functional value of the site. This approach not only strengthens the hotels’ brand identity but also sets a new benchmark for high-end hospitality.
