ABOUT
Booth Hansen created a timeless, elegant boutique hotel located in downtown Birmingham, Michigan at a prominent corner along the iconic Old Woodward Avenue. This world class destination features a minimalist luxe-design, incorporating the finest art, wellness, dining and retail. The project boasts over 151 rooms and suites, as well as a high-end restaurant, ballroom, and event space. Below grade levels provide parking and back-of-house services. A welcoming canopy creates a formal entry while connecting the building to the town’s streetscape. The exterior includes stately, high-quality materials of stone and glass with rich textures and a classic, refined color palette.
Natural light plays an important role at the Daxton. Opulent, tall openings on the ground floor engage street presence by allowing passersby to view activities in the vibrant restaurant, bar and parlors within. Grand windows along the classically proportioned façade allow natural light to permeate deep into the guestrooms. The strategically placed corner curtainwall break up the façade in order to frame the views down the avenue from inside.
The hotel features a 400+ piece collection of cutting-edge artwork curated by world renowned Saatchi Art. The unique portfolio of multi-media artwork brings energy and surprise around every corner and is amplified by the eclectic architectural interior detailing. The Daxton’s elegance is further enhanced by its connection to outdoor spaces. Private terraces surround the premium suites on the 5th floor and a second level green roof courtyard breaks up the visual massing along Old Woodward.
The Daxton is transformative for the community as it elevates the modern vision of Birmingham luxury and sets a new cultural standard for hospitality.
